Keeping Warm Inside When the Cold Moves In
When winter settles over Kansas, the cold seems to seep into everything . . . our days, our homes, even our moods. And while we can’t do much about the temperature outside, we can take small steps to keep the inside warm and comfortable.
Heating a home in winter is expensive, and for many people, December is the month when the utility bill starts to rise faster than the thermometer falls. But staying warm doesn’t have to mean overspending.
Here are a few simple, low-cost ways to keep the cold out:
1) Use draft stoppers (or rolled towels) at the bottom of doors
2) Reverse ceiling fans to push warm air down
3) Keep blankets, throws, and warm socks handy
4) Open curtains when the sun is shining, close them once the sun sets
5) Close off unused rooms to concentrate heat
These small changes can make a big difference . . . both for your comfort and your budget. Take a little time to make your space feel warm, safe, and comfy. A cup of hot tea and a bowl of soup . . .
You deserve a home that feels like a refuge from the cold.
